At Birch Ridge Golf Course we are fortunate to have three Golf Professionals.

Tom Walsh is our Head Golf Professional and has been part of our team since 1997. Tom lives the game and in addition to being a great player and an excellent instructor, he is very knowledgeable regarding Turf and Greens management.  Tom holds most of the Birch Ridge Golf Course records, the latest being a 29 (6 under par) on the back nine on 10/1/04.  Tom has won the Wells Fargo Charity All Alaska Pro Skins Game 4 times, twice as an individual and twice teamed up with another Alaskan Pro in the alternate shot format. Bill Engberg is our Assistant Golf Professional and when not giving lessons, you will find him working on the Greens and the Turf. Both Tom and Bill have worked hard to make our greens and turf the envy of all the other golf courses in Alaska. Bill is also a Golf Professional in California and works there in the winter and at Birch Ridge Golf Course in the summer. Bill has been a member of our team since 2006. Nolan Rose is our third Golf Professional and Nolan turned Teaching Professional in 2011.  Nolan grew up on this golf course, as his dad Mike has been a Greens Keeper on this course for over 15 years (off and on).  Nolan studies the game of golf and is extremely knowledgeable regarding fitting golf equipment specifically to the individual.  Nolan hosts along with Bill Engberg a free weekly Junior Golf Clinic and a bi-weekly Ladies Clinic. Nolan is also in charge of marketing for Birch Ridge Golf Course and spends most of his time either in the Pro-Shop or Teaching. For lesson information call Nolan @ 1-360-560-6907.

Nolan Rose

Nolan is a 0 handicapper and has placed 2^nd in the Alaska State Junior Amateur Championship, 5^th place in the Alaska State Amateur Championship and was the winner of the Peninsula Amateur Championship in 2009.
His lowest score on Birch Ridge Golf Course (63) tied our head Pro’s record and one off the current record set by Aaron Dexheimer of (62) in 2009.
 
All of our Golf Professional’s compete in Alaska Golf Pro mini tour and have had varying degrees of success.
