Hook-a-Kid-on-Golf
May 28th, 2013 - June 1st, 2013

The Birch Ridge Golf Association was awarded the "2012 Don Springer Award" which recognizes the national Hook-a-Kid-on-Golf site of the year. It's an incredible honor for those of us who have spent so much time and engery making our Hook-a-Kid program the best possible experience for our area youth. We promise to do everything we can to elevate the program to even greater heights in future years!

This is a program designed for 8-15 year old youth who have never played golf and do not own a set of clubs. There are no costs to the participants. Sponsorship is provided by the Birch Ridge Golf Association and the National Alliance for Youth Sports.

The Clinic is open to 16 young people with applications turned in by April 16, 2013.  Selection will be based on a drawing to be completed by April 19, 2013. Those selected will be notified by phone immediately following the drawing.  If those selected find they cannot attend for any reason, other names will be drawn so we can have a full class of 16. To receive an application either call Bob Sizemore @ 262-5130 or email him at bsizemore@acsalaska.net.

Participants selected will receive instruction from Birch Ridge Golf Professionals Tom Walsh, Bill Engberg, and Nolan Rose plus assistants. Participants selected will receive golf balls, tees, a cap, a golf shirt, a golf bag and four clubs.

The Clinic will be held Tuesday, May 28th through Saturday June 1st at Birch Ridge Golf Course.

(All participants are required to attend each session)

An orientation Meeting for Parents and participants will be held on a "TBD" date at Birch Ridge Golf Course. As part of the Tee Level Clinic, each youngster is provided with a starter set of golf clubs and other golf items needed to play the game. In addition to being taught basic swing fundamentals, there is a special 30-minute presentation dealing with rules & etiquette, drug and alcohol awareness and golf course maintenance that are part of a Tee Level Clinic. At the end of the clinic, youngsters get to keep their clubs and all their other materials including a member bag tag that signifies their completion of the Tee Level Clinic.
