This nine hole course has variations on both tees and greens which makes a substantial difference from the front nine to the back nine. The architect was Thomas R. Smith and it was built in 1973. It is rated by Golf Digests "Places to Play" as one of the finest nine holes in Alaska. The golf course offers a variety of holes that integrate the natural contours of the land while preserving the beautiful Alaskan scenery, including two active volcanoes, the Kenai Mountain Range and the Kenai River Valley. Not only will you enjoy the beauty, but you will find this course both difficult and challenging. The course record is (-8) 62, recorded on 8/21/09 by Aaron Dexheimer, playing Pro on both California and Alaska circuits who grew up on Birch Ridge Golf Course.
